Periyar Chemicals Limited was established in the year 1969 by the prestigious business house “Aaspinwal & Company”, which was promoted by the erstwhile Travancore Royal Family. The promoters had certain noble objectives behind the establishment of this factory and the main objectives are as follows.

At that time the highly poisonous gas ‘carbon monoxide’ was being vent out from a nearby fertiliser factory which could have been caused much air pollution problem. They thought that if this waste gas is converted into a useful material they could avoid air pollution as well as convert a waste material to a very useful commodity.

In those days about 90% of rubber cultivation was in Kerala and the cultivators required Formic Acid for making rubber sheets from latex. For this purpose Formic Acid was being imported and the local market had not control over the price as well as quality. Hence, the promoters wanted to give the best quality Formic Acid to the Rubber farmers at reasonable price.

Now a new promoter Mr.K.P.Roy, an enthusiastic enterpreneour, has taken over the Company and is leading from front for diversified activities.
